UK retailer Unlocked Mobiles reveals pricing for HTC 8X and 8S

Pricing for the HTC 8X and HTC 8S, which were announced yesterday at the manufacturer's Windows Phone event in New York, have been revealed by online UK retailer Unlocked Mobiles. While both handsets aren't entirely matching Nokia's Lumia line of Apollo hardware, the designs and technology powering both the 8S and 8X ensures they're not left behind in a smoke trail.
Unlocked Mobiles has the HTC 8X listed for £399 SIM-free including VAT (approx. $650), which is not pricey by any stretch. Packed inside the casing is a 4.3” Super LCD2 display with Gorilla Glass2 at 720P resolution. In addition, the 8X features a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 CPU, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of non-expandable storage. The 8X sports an extra amplifier and Beats Audio.
The younger sibling -- the HTC 8S -- has been priced at just £225 SIM-free including VAT (approx. $365). The 8S sports a 4” WVGA (800x480) display with slightly curved Gorilla Glass and Super LCD2. It weighs in at just 113 grams, comes with Beats Audio (software, no amplifier) and a 5MP shooter and front facing camera. The phone does lack NFC and some more advanced features found in the 8X, but does have expandable memory on board for those who require more than the 4GB of included storage. We close up with 512MB of RAM.
The 8X and 8S are Windows Phones targeting mainstream consumers. HTC has left out power-users and has decided to release hardware that caters for both the average consumer and those who don't require much in terms of functionality (think "Tango"). While this may upset many who were expecting a TITAN III and more, it's great to see the manufacturer really start to back Windows Phone and rekindle the relationship with Microsoft.
Could this be final pricing? Only time will tell, but we sure hope the pricing is either an incredibly accurate estimation, or the real deal. Let us know your thoughts in the comments, will you be purchasing either at these prices?

Pricing for Nokia Lumia 920 in Hong Kong revealed?

The recently announced Nokia Lumia 920 is set to be priced in Hong Kong at just HK$3,900 (approx. $500 / £300), according to a report over at WeloveWP.hk. Consumers will also be able to pick up the new Windows Phone with a Wireless Charging Base and a Bluetooth headset for just HK$4,399 (approx. $570 / £350), which would aggressively compete with the HTC 8X that has been priced at just £399 including VAT (approx. $650) at a UK retailer.
The price conversions from Hong Kong Dollars would be before VAT is added on, so we'd be looking at around about the same as the potential HTC 8X tag for the Lumia 920 once it reaches UK shores. No official word has come from Nokia (or HTC) regarding pricing, so we should of course take this with a cup of salt, but we can see Nokia pricing their new hardware to undercut both HTC and Samsung. This would almost fit in with Lumia 800 pricing when the Windows Phone was released last November.
Alas, it's always fun to speculate and have our dreams taken to new heights with great deals, right? How much would you be looking to pay for both the Lumia 920 and 820 SIM-free?

New Sony Xperia phones get tentative eurozone pricing

The first European pricing information for Sony's new Xperia T, Xperia V and Xperia J smartphones has come to light, as several German retailers have put the devices up for pre-order. According to online stores Idealo and notebooksbilliger, the high-end Xperia T is listed with a €549 price tag, while the LTE-enabled Xperia V will set you back €580. Meanwhile, the budget-focused Xperia J will apparently sell for €265. These prices roughly equate to £450 for the T and £210 for the J for British consumers (with no LTE networks in the UK, it's unlikely we'll get the Xperia V at all). These are also SIM-free prices, so as ever, if you pick one of these up with a contract, you can expect to pay considerably less.
We've already seen one UK retailer report SIM-free pricing for the Xperia J, and with a SIM-free pre-order price of £190, Clove's pricing closely matches what we're seeing from these German retailers.
Pre-order prices are always subject to change, but with so many retailers reporting the same RRP, it's likely the final pricing won't stray too far from that mark. Sony's new Xperia phones are expected to appear from tomorrow, Sept. 5, starting at UK retailer the Carphone Warehouse.
