Give your BlackBerry a fresh new look with Crispy by BerryGlowDesigns

Crispy

Theme lovers on the prowl for new and exciting designs should no doubt be familiar with the creative style of BerryGlowDesigns. Whether it was releasing SharpIce/SharpPink Free for OS7, porting five premium themes to OS7, or announcing their new Phantom series, they have been hard at work making sure their fans are never without one of their amazing designs. Crispy is their newest concept and is another visually appealling theme for your device.

What makes Crispy stand out from the rest is the graphics. I like how BGD focuses on the tiniest details that others may not notice. If you look closely, the gradients in the top banner display just a hint of color that goes across in a linear pattern from red to yellow with a faint yellow strip at the top. This fine line is a nice touch and shows how less can be more.

When it comes to themes, I always look at the icons. While some may prefer stock, BGD's new "Crispy" OS 7 icon set are intricately designed to blend in perfectly with the style of the theme. Reduced to just their outline, each icon switches from red to yellow with an emphasis on the shadow when highlighted. All of the icons are neatly arranged on the application screen with simple lines separating the rows.

If there is one thing I love about this theme it's how all of BGD's subtle color changes and graphics draws you in. From the custom equalizer signal meter to the glass like icon focuses, it is a sharp, solid, and balanced design for your compatible BlackBerry device.

Crispy is wallpaper friendly as well and BGD has just launched their themed wallpaper section on their site. All of their previous wallpapers are there for you to download (including the fantastic CrackBerry one!). This includes those created for their Phantom series which are also compatible with this one. Each wallpaper is designed for devices running BlackBerry OS 5 - OS 7.1 and the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0. For more amazing choices, be sure to check out the CrackBerry Wallpaper gallery.

For a limited time, Crispy is available in BlackBerry App World for $.99 (normally $2.99). It is compatible with BlackBerry 8520/30, 8900/10/80, 9100/05, 9300/30, 9500/20/30/50, 9630/50/70, 9700/80/88, 9800, and 9900/30/81 running OS 5 and higher.

SoundCloud for Android updated with fresh editing tools

Android Central

The SoundCloud app for Android now includes clipping, recording pause, and fade-in/fade-out editing options. Right now, the app is still more about flipping through the most recently-posted tunes, but these are certainly welcome tools for those looking to do some light editing before posting anything from the field. There are a few features that are coming to the iOS version that aren't included, like Private Listening, which allows users to use the phone earpiece instead of the loudspeaker.

SoundCloud, as you might know, is a a social network for sharing all sorts of audio, including (but not limited to) music, podcasts, and sound effects. The timeline system uis really cool, in that it allows users to leave comments at specific points throughout a track.

While smartphones aren't really widely-used for Serious Business when it comes to video production, it's much easier to imagine them finding a home among those recording audio. With the right microphone and apps like SoundCloud, it's pretty easy to get time-sensitive content out into the wild.

Audiophiles, how do you use SoundCloud? Do you do a lot of editing on your Android devices? Which apps do you use?
